I am Vienna and I am a teacher by profession but I was already able to work in fields other than education. At age 20, I got my first real job as a payroll staff in a garment manufacturing company back in the Philippines. I worked there for three years and I was able to go from payroll staff, to secretary, to purchasing officer, and to export/import officer. It was fun working there. I’ve learned a lot because I was able to work in different departments. After those three long years, I quited and thought of going back to teaching but unfortunately Philippines doesn’t offer the highest salary to starting teacher so I landed an office job once again in a German owned electronic company in Manila. I worked there for seven months or so but decided to quit and try my luck abroad. After a few weeks, I was lucky enough to get a teaching job in China. I came here last November 2005 and for one year, I taught English to Chinese kids. After getting married to my Austrian boyfriend whom I met here, we decided that I stop teaching. Reason to that is another story and would be better discussed in another blog.
Anyway, right now I still teach but not on a regular basis. Mostly, I stay home and be the spoiled housewife that I am. And since I have so much time, I nurture my recently gotten interest in cooking, writing, and web designing. It’s fun. It allows me to do something other than waiting for my husband’s return home from work.
